One of my favorite places in the world is the Santa Cruz Mountains in central California. It is where my wife grew up and getting to know this part of the world while we got to know each other has been a huge part of our relationship. When I first visited her home, we arrived late at night so I didn't get to really take in the redwoods that surround the house. When I woke up the next morning, the sunlight broken up by the texture from the trees was the first thing that greeted me. It is a gentle, warm sunlight in which the shadows of the massive old growth dance. Every time I come back, these beautiful mornings remind me of that first visit and how amazed I was by the ancient forest around me.
